Ever Asked How to Connect a TV to a Computer? Here’s the Answer
Author: Noel Hines
Nearly all modern TVs (Plasma, LCD or TFT) maybe connected to your Computers (Laptops, Laptop computers or PC). This can be done almost immediately with a range of cables or connections like VGA, RGB, DVI, HDMI, S-video or RCA straight out of the box. The most common of these connections is the VGA it is probably the easiest way to connect a TV to a computer. VGA has been used to connect monitors or screens to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of computers for many years now. If you have a Laptop it will be the cable used to connect an external monitor.
There are other ways to ask the same question when connecting Computers and TVs so if your have thought of any of the following:
o How to connect your TV to your Computer?
o How to connect TV to computer?
o How to connect a TV to a computer?
o How to connect your computer to your TV?
o Is there anyway of connecting TV to computer?
o How to hook up computer to TV?
Then continue reading.
If you do not posses any of the connectors mentioned so far you can buy them from any Electrical or Computer shop. With any of the cables connections you will be able to easily bridge the gap between your Laptop/Computer and TV. If your Television (TV) is not equipped with either VGA or DVI then the process will not be as straight forward but it still should not be too difficult to connect a TV to a computer. You could consider using RCA or S-video as a way to hook up computer to TV. All is not lost, so do not get down heartened if your TV does not have any of these connections. All that is needed is a VGA to TV converter which will give you either an S-video or RCA to connect to so you will be up and running in no time. Yet another way of connecting your computer to your TV is with HDMI. The only draw back is your TV must be HDMI compatible, this should not be problem as it is becoming more common these days. So to connect a TV to a computer will be as easy as pie.
Once you have all the required connections it maybe necessary to set your TVs to accept the output signal from your Laptop/Computer. You will find the instructions to achieve this within the menu of your TV, if it cannot be found then consult your TV manual for instructions. If all the connections are firmly in place and the TV is setup correctly to receive the computers signal you should see your computer screen on your TV.
If you would like to make this connection as seamless as possible you could purchase a switch to change from Computer monitor to TV screen without disconnecting any of the connections. I must stress that this is not essential so you do not have to buy one. If you feel it is needed it is available at most Computer or Electrical stores.
For those of you who are a little more adventurous you could go a little step further and tap into the audio of your Computer/Laptop. Again to accomplish this Computer connection to TV audio you might have all the connections you need. This can be done with a Mini Stereo plug/jack to a Phono lead (RCA composite audio). The Mini Stereo plug goes into the audio output normally at the back of your Computer or into the audio output of your Laptop. The Phono ends goes into the audio input of your TV. This would mean there is no connection output to your Computer or Laptop speakers to get audio output to both the Computer/Laptop speakers and your TV your need a mini plug splitter, which is self explanatory to install. You will now have both Audio and Video signals from your Computer/Laptop and your TV.
That was the basics of how to connect your TV to your Computer. To go further still you can reconfigure and or purchase more equipment to enhance your Home Entertainment System.
You have had a good start so never will you ask yourself any of the following questions again.
o How to connect your TV to your Computer?
o How to connect TV to computer?
o How to connect your computer to your TV?
o Is there anyway of connecting TV to computer?
o How to hook up computer to TV?
o How do you connect your computer to your TV?

Author: Eronne Ward
Every day, our society becomes more and more dependent on technology and computers. It seems inevitable that at some point, your child will need to learn computer skills in order to produce homework, and ultimately, to enter the workforce. Knowing that your child will need these skills and that most of their higher level schooling will require computer produced documents, you will have to decide if or when to get a computer for your child.
More and more schools are beginning to provide computers at school. However, due to budget restraints, most schools only have a computer lab that is a shared resource for the entire school. Depending on your child’s situation at school, the time they receive on a computer may not be adequate to learn the skills necessary for the future.
Computer knowledge will undoubtedly be a large part of your child’s long-term future. It is this inevitability that has resulted in schools building computer classes into their curriculum. As mentioned above though, the time that most students actually receive on this vital skill are likely not sufficient. Because of this situation, as well as the dependency on the Internet for many other aspects of family life, most households already have a home computer. However, if you have a large family, and computer time is already at a premium, it might be time to consider getting a separate computer for your child or children to use for school purposes.
This decision is often not taken lightly as the expense is quite substantial and having one computer, let alone a second machine for your child is not practical. If this is the case, and you’re concerned your child is not receiving enough computer orientation at school, try to speak to their teacher and work out a time where your child can use the school computer, either before or after regular school hours. As well, many local libraries have computers available for use and are provided free of charge. Not only is this a good option but it also a great, not to mention quiet learning environment.
So if you do intend to get a computer for your child, there are a few questions you should ask yourself and a few rules you’ll want to establish before jumping right in.
Where do you want the new computer located?
You should decide where the new computer will be setup prior to purchasing it. Do you want to be able to help and supervise your child when on the computer? Will they need privacy and quiet to complete homework properly? Once you’ve decided where the computer will be, you’ll need to ask a few other questions. For example, do you have room for a new computer? Depending on available space in your home, you may need to purchase a laptop instead of a desktop. As well, you may require a new desk to house the computer on.
Will your new computer be requiring Internet access?
If you do need internet access, will you require a parental safety program to monitor access to certain sites? This question should be asked in conjunction with computer location since the best way to monitor what your child is doing is to have them in the same room as you. It would be a good practice to discuss the dangers of the Internet with your child as well to make sure they understand the concerns you have and the threats the Internet can pose. Also, you’ll need to determine how you plan to connect the computer to the Internet and whether the room you choose is wired to accommodate this. If not, you will need to ensure the computer is wireless compatible.
Be sure to set time constraints
Discuss average homework expectations and time requirements for assignments with your child’s teacher. You can base your time limitations loosely on this number. There are a number of other things on the computer that can occupy your child’s time such as games, social networking sites, and instant messaging. Once your child has completed their necessary computer time, you can allow them some flex time but be sure to enforce this time limit. If the computer was purchased for school needs, make sure that your child understands that. Any other use is a reward, not a right. Also, by enforcing these rules, you can encourage your child to pick up a book and read, or get together with friends at the park for some exercise.
Determine your family’s computer requirements
Before purchasing your new computer, discuss what specific needs you and your children will have for it. For example, if your children will be using the computer primarily for school purposes, you will need a writing program of some sort. Older children may need software to create presentations or artwork, requiring you to purchase more full-featured software programs relevant to your child’s needs.
In all likelihood, your child will require a computer during their school years. With this information, not only will you be able to determine the best way to go about selecting a proper computer to fit your needs but you’ll also be able to determine the best way to monitor online safety and maximize family time well ensuring that your child develops the computer skills they will require for the future.

Study on Computing in the Cloud
Author: Felix Deepak Minj
Introduction:
In traditional network diagram, the cloud always represented a fairly static view of an intermediary virtual area on the Internet. It basically had no real function other than passing data from one point to the other between servers on the Internet and client where we cloud setup our applications to run
The cloud computing model changes this slightly. Instead of providing just a medium for messages to pass through between clients and severs, it tries to provide a number of services within the Internet “cloud” itself. These services can range from storage, computation, applications and even complete operating systems. All available as a service on the Internet which you can go ahead and use directly. The “Software_as_a_Servic” or SaaS concept is one of the major diving forces of cloud computing along with other concepts such as Web2.0, the web browser and mobile applications.
Objective of the Study:
1. Purpose of the study is to virtualization of the environment.
2. Less expensive in context to server maintenance.
3. According to demand provide the application services and others.
Methodology:
In this paper relevant literature, information and data have been used from the published books, magazines like PCQuest, DeveloperIQ, Computer Today, InformationWeek, relevant web sites etc.
Text:
We can’t turn around these days without hearing “Cloud Computing”. So what is cloud computing? Is it the same old stuff with a new wrapper? Cloud computing is a development model leveraged by IT to reduce infrastructure costs and/or address capacity/scalability concerns. It is the infrastructure and model of deployment. Cloud computing is about how an application or service is deployed and delivered. Cloud computing is a deployment model leveraging on demand computing to scale and serve applications through a shared resource model.
Are there different types of clouds? Yes, there are. There are public clouds like Amazon and Microsoft, and there are going to be private clouds as well. Because cloud computing is concerned with how applications and infrastructure resources are provisioned and delivered, location is really irrelevant in determining whether an architecture is or is not a cloud.
There is also differentiation between cloud models; some are based heavily in virtualization and we deploy applications by pushing a virtual image of our applications and its environment into the cloud using web services. Other provides platforms upon which we develop the application and which are then packaged up and provisioned on demand through the provider’s custom environment.
Scalability is an issue in all kinds of software development and computing. Dose this include cloud computing? Absolutely, there are basically two different kind of scalability such as horizontal and vertical. Horizontal scalability means the application can serve many concurrent users, which is easy and one of the benefits of cloud computing. That’s the job of load balancing and application delivery solutions and should be taken care of by the cloud. Then there is vertical scalability, which means that the application continues to perform consistently as load increases, and that is just note something the cloud provides.
What about security when it comes to cloud computing? Secure cording is an absolute requirement for cloud computing, as is a wide variety of application and network layer security in the cloud computing infrastructure. Secure coding practice are the best way to prevent exploits of application logic and unauthorized access while firewalls, web application firewalls, network(IP) and transport layer(TCP) security solutions are all necessary to prevent as many attacks as possible from penetrating the outer rim of the cloud. Secure remote access to applications and services in the cloud, allowing for more sensitive applications to execute in the cloud and be accessed from anywhere while protecting the communication.
Cloud computing offers virtually unlimited, on demand computing resources. Our applications now live in a new platform- a computing cloud. In the cloud, our applications take advantages of the seemingly limitless processor cycles, memory storage, and network bandwidth along with extensive software capabilities. Our applications only pay for what they use. Cloud computing offers a range of application services that from a new platform-an Internet operating system suitable for cost effective, dynamic, and Internet-scale solutions. An Internet operating system offers the scale and services required to meet the requirements of a dynamic, global, software application.
In an infrastructure cloud environment, the situation is radically different. Our data and processing power can get moved at win from location to location, possibly with varying levels of physical access controls. The underlying virtualization system of some infrastructure cloud providers may not yet be capable of providing strong assurances that virtual machines sharing a hyper visior are in fact separated and immune from attack. Cloud providers-in particular, the infrastructure variety-tend to be opaque computing services offering little visibility into their underlying architectures and technologies.
Cloud computing is the natural evolution of the application service provider (ASP) from the late nineties and software as a service (SaaS) strategies from more recent year. Vendors that provide cloud computing services supply the data centers required to host virtualized environments for their customers. Business no longer need the same capital expenditure to up and running and they can buy additional cloud computing resources on demand to meet the requirements of increased server load or peak periods in their business.
Getting into the cloud:
Currently we can create cloud applications through two major implementations:
1- Amazon
2- Google
Amazon:
Amazon has a number of cloud offering. The Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) is an offering that allows users to request “virtual machines” in the cloud. Once the request is met, the user can “provision” these virtual cloud servers to run any software they want. This is completely dynamic in the sense that the user has control over how many virtual instances he wants to provision and run at a particular point in time. The servers can run anything from OpenSolaris, Linux to Windows Server 2003.
Other services that Amazon has include S3 (Simple storage service)- a service that lets users or applications use unlimited storage for their files and SimpleDB a distributed database system that can be used in conjunction with S3 and EC2. All of these services are available through programming models to enable end users the ability to use them in their own applications as well.
Google:
Google provides two different sets of services in the cloud computing world. the first is the famous Google Apps- a combination of services that users can use as part of their own domain to enable common functionality. The different parts of the Google network- Gmail, Calendar, Talk, Sites and Docs- are combined into a packaged offering that users can subscribe to in an enterprise. This enables users to have their organization’s data stored up in Google’s “cloud” and make it accessible almost anywhere.
The other service that Google offers is the App engine. This is an online application frame work where users can host their own applications. However, the Google App Engine only supports a limited version of python as their programming frame work. It also has a database like construct with an SQL like language to be able to use to program applications.
Conclusion:
There are many other companies in this playing field as well-IBM, HP, Sales Force-to name just a few, who are heavily investing in this model of computing. Since cloud computing reduces the infrastructure requirements and budgets that an enterprise needs to host their applications or data, this model seems to be getting more popular. One doesn’t need to worry about purchasing and provisioning hardware and software integrating it into the network and other headaches. Simply request the service or update we want and it gets done for us transparently. Cloud computing can help us or at least manage our infrastructure costs better and allow availability of our application and data over the Internet. However, one must be able to ensure that data is available anytime one needs it and having good software and a seamless connectivity to the service is essential in this regard.

How to Reformat Or Restore a Computer
Author: Jay M
Has your computer crashed? Do you need to reformat your computer? Want to return your computer to the condition it was when you purchased it? Like to know how to do it yourself?
No matter what we do computers crash from time to time and need to be restored, to when it was originally built. The more common reason to reformat a computer is to clean out the garbage and errors to improve computer performance. No matter what you do Microsoft Software will degrade over time with use. Here is some insights and information on how to reformat your computer.
Types of Computer Reformats
There are several ways that you can reformat your computer depending on manufacturer, age of your computer, and of course choice. Always when possible obtain a back up of your files and make sure you have your software discs and registration information before you start.
- Restore Discs – These are disc that are supplied to you in the documentation packet you received with your computer. There can also be an application from the manufacturer to create your computers restore discs. These disks make the process very easy and will walk you through the available options. Some also give you an option to just repair Windows, although this will probably not solve all your problems. It will however allow you to get at your files if your computer crashed. You simply insert the restore disk into your Cd Rom Drive and start your computer. The computer will boot from disk and give you the available options for you to choose and walk you through the computer restore process.
- Restore Partitions – Manufactures have created a partition on the hard drive with the restore application instead of supplying discs. When you first turn on your computer you have a black screen that will briefly show you an F number key for Settings and usually if there is a restore partition the key required to activate that process. You might have to refer to the documentation to find the key to use. If you do not have the documentation you can go into the settings one and make the restore option viewable. If all else fails then keep trying F numbered keys until you see the restore application start. Once you gain access to the restore application it will give you the available options for you to choose and walk you through the restore process.
- Authenticated Microsoft Software CD Rom -Your computer might have come with this disc and includes additional drivers and software discs. With this disc you would simply put in the CD drive and start the computer. If the disk does not have a boot program you will need to use Fdisk Format Dos Program. This program is available for free on many websites. You will then format the partition and move forward with the install. This is the most complicated of methods and it is doubtful you will encounter it. This is also the preferred method for people that know how to set up a computer and have experience in specialized computer installs.
For the most part you will encounter the first two options and it will be simple. You can always contact us for more information and assistance. We are always willing to help. Just doing it, is how we learned and if you make a mistake you can start over. This might just be the answer to breath new life into a computer and avoid the need for purchasing a new one.
Be Green If you have old computers that you want to get rid of and need to remove data. Just take out the hard drive and hit it with a hammer a few times. This is also a good way to take out computer user frustration. If you can do a reformat of the computer drive please do so. Then donate that computer for others in need, there are a great deal of organizations that could benefit from your old computer. Also, do not throw away your computer, please take it to a computer recycling center for proper disposal.
Thanks – Enjoy

When to Upgrade Or Purchase a New Computer
Author: Jay M
Helping in the decision of a new computer or possible other options! In the current financial situation of the world economy it is an hard investment to purchase a new computer. The first thing that you should look at is the reasons why you want a new computer. A super computer user will be able to answer that question easily. But, that does not hold true for all of us.
Most of you have a computer that is several years old and our having performance issues. Before going out and buying a new computer you may want to consider a different alternatives to computer purchase than purchase. In most situations think back to the day you received your computer when it was new. This process will also allow you to thoroughly understand what is on your computer and how you use it.
* Did you like your computer when it was new?
* Does your computer fit your needs?
* Where you able to do everything you needed and wanted to do on the computer?
* Do you need it back to when the computer was new and it would perform well and fit your needs?
If you can answer yes to the above questions you may want to take a different course of action and save yourself some money and improve that old computer.
The Alternative to Computer Purchasing: I have currently work on several computers for friends and associates with this current process and been able to create pleasing results for them with their older computers. Here is the process I walked them through to restore and upgrade their computer to like new or better than it was when it was new.
1. Go over their important Data and Files they have saved on their computer. Make sure you capture all the file directories from Picture Software, other used programs, email and so forth. This process should be followed to the point that you have accounted for everything you do on your computer. This is necessary not to lose any important files.
2. Using either an Picture Software, other used programs, email you discovered on the computer so that you can replace it back to the computer later. Be sure to make notes of the file location so you can put these files back in the location that you found them.
3. The following step is to look at the software on the computer and determine what came on the computer at purchase and what has been added later. At this point it is time to make sure you obtain all the downloaded software information and/or Cd Rom discs and make sure you have all the software licensing code for each software application. You will need this information and the software to re install applications on you computer. The ones that came with the computer will restore however some you may have licensed an application and you will need that documentation also.
4. Then you need to look at your computers hardware setting and make sure you know how to reconnect to you internet account, scanners, printers ect… Check and write down the computer settings. If you are using Outlook, Outlook Express, or some other non internet based email program make sure you know the settings and the location of your file directory for your email so that you can also copy it so you can return the file to the directory after reinstalling.
Once you have completed all the above wait a couple days and go over what you have learned as you use your computer to make sure you have not missed or forgotten anything. Also re verify that you have successfully copied all the files you need to keep. If you have downloaded executable for programs save them too. It will make it easier that downloading them again to re install.
Computer Upgrades The best upgrade to speed up your computer is to max out the amount of Ram Memory that the mother board can handle. First go to control panel, systems icon and find out how mach RAM your computer has installed. Then go to the manufactures websites support page and find the details of your model of computer. It will tell you how mach RAM the mother board will handle. (Most computers have slots for two RAM chips to be installed. Most of the older Computers can handle 2 gig of memory.)
Then there are a lot of websites that will tell you what memory you need for you computer model. I use Geek.com and NewEgg.com as a rule and get great prices. For an example, I purchase 2 gig of RAM Memory for an older HP Pavilion that had one 512mg memory chip for around $65.00. The additional RAM greatly improved the computers performance.
Conclusion At this point you are ready to entirely erase your computer and completely reinstall everything on your computer back to when you first removed it from the box. Unfortunately Windows systems tend to degrade and get bough ed down over time and cause problems. This is the best way to keep you computer running at peak efficiencies. I commonly will reload mine every 1or 2 years as I start to have issues.
I will follow up this article with the types of computer restore options for you so that you will know how to find the information and restore your computer. Talk to you very soon!

Slow Computer? How to Fix It!
Author: Ron C.
All users of the great scientific invention, the computer, face this issue at some point of their life. And then at that situation they scratch their heads and rack their brains on one simple question: “How to Speed up my computer?” or “How to Speed up my PC?” or “How to improve my slow computer?” Here I have some answer to the question, which helped me and will help common users like me.
Before answering the question, let me go ahead and let you know that why computer does slow down. What is the root cause of slow computer? The following are some of the main reasons for the performance of any computer, and the following are the process to gain speed.
Hardware: – This is a vital reason for the performance of any computer. Hardware parts which are responsible for the performance of a computer are:
(a) Processor: – The processing speed of a processor is responsible for the speed of processor but it has NOT much to do with a slow computer. The user chooses this speed while purchasing any Computer.
TO GAIN SPEED: – TRY PURCHASING A GOOD PROCESSOR WHILE PURCHASING. We basically do not change the processor to gain speed. It’s a One Time Decision while purchasing.
(b) RAM: – This HAS much to do with Slowing down as well as performance of any computer. Every computer has limited maximum amount of RAM that it can use. While doing any job in computer, it eats up the RAM. In fact, If we do not open any applications in a computer still you will find around (20- 40) processes will run in your computer, but it varies from computer to computer. We can definitely increase our RAM for better performance, but it has a limit according to the motherboard you are using. For computers using Vista Home Basic OS (Operating System) needs at least 512 MB of Ram to Run.
TO GAIN SPEED: – INCREASE YOUR RAM, according to the configuration of the motherboard. Note: – Always Check the Type of RAM (DDR, DDR2 and SDRAM) before extending.
(c) Hard Drive: – Computer’s hard drive plays a vital role in the process and results into a slow computer, if the hard drive is crashed, no matter whatever we do we will find the computer freezes or hangs very often. The other symptoms of a Bad hard drive are a blue screen of death and frequent restart of the computer.
TO GAIN SPEED: – CHANGE THE HARD DRIVE. That’s the only solution if the hard drive is the root cause of your slow computer.
(d) Applications and Processes: – Applications and Processes have significant effects on the computer speed. Many Applications and Processes run in its own even if we do not manually initiate it during startup.
TO GAIN SPEED: – FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING STEPS:-
1) Simply close unnecessary programs (It consumes much of the RAM or in simple words, the computer speed).
2) Open Task Manager (Press ALT +CTRL+DEL simultaneously to open) and close few processes manually from the PROCESS tab. (If you are computer savvy and know the proper function of the process)
3) When you play a 3D game, try to play it in a Game Mode from software like ADVANCED SYSTEM CARE, etc. because it closes unnecessary processes in background automatically and provides the user a good gaming experience.
(e) Virtual Memory: – It is also important for the performance of a computer. The best part is we can always increase virtual memory (page file) of our computer without any cost.
Open system properties. (Right click on computer >> Properties >> Advanced tab >> under performance Click on settings >> Click on advanced >> Change >> and Increase the Virtual Memory).
(f) Disk Cleanup: – The inbuilt disk cleanup utility can help us delete temporary unnecessary files and increase the computer speed and help improve the performance of the slow computer.
Start >> Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Cleanup
You can also download several cleanup utility software like CCleaner etc.
(g) Disk Defragmentation: – This utility helps to rearrange all the files of your computer and definitely helps to increase the computer speed. This process takes around 1- 2 hrs depending upon the size of the partition.
Start >> Programs >>Accessories>>System Tools >>Disk Defragmentation.
So you should have got the answers to your “How to Speed up my Computer?” Computer is a scientific invention and has been a boon on us but that doesn’t mean that is not to be taken care of. Proper maintenance of your machine will not only improve the performance of your slow computer but also make sure that your new friend lasts a long time.

Computer Repair Done Right For Free
Author: James Perrin
This article will help users to perform a complete computer cleanup, which will improve the overall performance of their computers. It’s not meant as a substitute for regular computer maintenance, performed by a professional computer technician.
Almost every computer user knows that, from time to time, your computer starts to run a little slower or you notice that you hard drive space is dwindling. So many people shrug this off and choose not to do anything about it. They think that it’s normal to have these kinds of computer problems and that there isn’t anything they can do about it. Your computer is trying to tell you something…it’s time for a cleaning. It’s time to clean up the junk and organize the files on your computer, just as you would clean and organize your office.
This step-by-step tutorial will put you on the path toward a cleaner, more efficient computer. You’ll learn how to perform a complete computer cleanup and you just may save yourself some money, in the future, by maintaining your computer, instead of just taking it to a repair technician when it breaks.
In this tutorial, we’ll only concern ourselves with Windows XP (I guess I’ll have to re-write this article for Vista), for a couple of reasons.
Microsoft has ended support for Windows 98, 98SE and Millennium.
If you still have one of those earlier operating systems, your computer is just too old to become “efficient” by today’s standards.
Follow these cleanup steps and you just may learn to love your computer, again.
Unused User Accounts If you have any User Accounts that are no longer active, logon as a computer administrator and remove them.
1.Click START, then CONTROL PANEL.
2.When the Control Panel opens, click USER ACCOUNTS.
3.Click CHANGE AN ACCOUNT.
4.Click on the name of the account you want to remove.
5.Click REMOVE THIS ACCOUNT.
6.When given the option to “delete files” or “keep files”, choose to delete them.
7.After removing all unused User Accounts, restart the computer. Windows Updates Make sure you have all of the latest Windows Updates installed by visiting update.microsoft.com and following the instructions on the website.
It’s critical that you keep your computer up-to-date. Microsoft releases new security updates all the time and it’s easier just to set your computer to automatically download and install these updates. Here’s how to do that:
1.Right-click on MY COMPUTER.
2.Click PROPERTIES.
3.Click the AUTOMATIC UPDATES tab (reference the illustration, below).
4.Choose “Automatic (recommended)”.
5.Click APPLY and OK.
Remove Unused Programs This is pretty basic stuff. Most Windows users have already been through the steps of adding and removing programs, but we’ll list the steps for those who haven’t.
1.Click START, then CONTROL PANEL.
2.Double-click ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS.
3.When the window that opens has fully loaded, scroll through the list of programs and remove any that are unwanted or no longer used.
4.Just a piece of advice…any programs listed that mention anything about “bargain”, “cash”, “search”, “web” or “fun”, in the program name, should probably be removed.
Temporary File Cleanup Temporary files are one of the biggest wastes of hard drive space, hogs of computer resources and major causes of recurring spyware and virus infections. They need to be cleaned on a regular basis. Follow these steps to remove ALL temporary files from your computer:
1.Double-click MY COMPUTER.
2.Open the root drive (usually C:).
3.Open DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS.
4.Click TOOLS, then FOLDER OPTIONS.
5.Click the VIEW tab (reference the illustration, below).
6.Under “Hidden files and folders”, click “SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS”.
7.Uncheck “HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES”.
8.Uncheck “HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES (RECOMMENDED)”.
9.When the warning message pops up, click YES. 10.Click APPLY, then OK.
***It’s recommended that you change the file folder settings back to their default settings after you fully complete the computer cleanup.***
1.With the Documents And Settings folder opened, open a user account folder.
2.Open the LOCAL SETTINGS folder.
3.Open the TEMP folder.
4.Press CTRL+A to select all files.
5.Press SHIFT+DEL to permanently delete all selected files. *Note*: you may be unable to delete ALL of the files and folders because some of them may be “locked” by the operating system or another program. Select smaller groups of folders or files in order to remove as many as possible.
6.Navigate back to the LOCAL SETTINGS folder.
7.Open the TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES folder.
8.Repeat steps 4 and 5. See *Note*.
9.Repeat steps 1 through 8 for all user account folders.
10.Empty the RECYCLE BIN and restart the computer.
Virus And Spyware Scans If you don’t already have an antivirus program and two or three antispyware programs installed and updated on your computer, then you’re BEGGING for problems. I use Webroot Antivirus/Antispyware and Spybot Search & Destroy (free). If you’re relying solely on “free” programs for your computer security, you’re likely making a big mistake. I understand that you don’t want to pay for software. Nobody does. You just have to look at the value in investing a little bit of money toward preventing the problems that might arise from choosing the “cheaper route”. Ok…enough said on that subject.
The most efficient way for antivirus and antispyware products to complete their scans successfully is to run them while the computer is in Safe Mode. To restart Windows in Safe Mode, tap the F8 key about every half-second or so, at computer startup, once you see the manufacturer’s logo. You’ll then be brought to a screen where you will use the arrow keys to choose the boot mode. Use the arrow up or down key to choose SAFE MODE. Press enter and let Windows do it’s thing. When the computer has fully booted, complete FULL SYSTEM scans with your antivirus and antispyware programs. When they are completed, reboot the computer, normally.
Defragment The Hard drive(s) This is the final step in your major computer cleaning. This will insure that the files on the disk are organized in such a way that makes them more quickly accessible, causing less “wait time” and less wear and tear on your drive.
1.Click START.
2.Navigate through ALL PROGRAMS to get to the ACCESSORIES folder.
3.Choose SYSTEM TOOLS.
4.Choose DISK DEFRAGMENTER.
5.Select the main disk (C:).
6.You shouldn’t need to “analyze” the drive. At this point, it’s better just to choose “DEFRAGMENT”.
7.Let the program run through the process and reboot the computer, normally, when completed.
That’s it! You should see a HUGE improvement in the performance of your computer.

Author: Todd Edwards
As always making a computer purchase is normally not a easy task, your always looking the best bang for your buck, is it a good product etc. Especially, if you are thinking about switching from a Windows based computer to something you have never really heard before called an Apple Computer or Macintosh.
I know when I thought about doing the switch myself I had not a clue on what to expect on my purchase or which computer Apple offered was the right one for me. I am going to try to help you decided on which Apple computer is right for you out of my personal experience, when deciding to make the switch from Windows to Apple (OS X).
I am going to break down each Apple computer, by giving you my thoughts and opinions what I think is the best for certain types of users, as well what will work and what won’t. Every person has a different agenda when using a computer, some for Graphic Design, Video Editing, Web Surfing etc. That leaves some Apple computers better then others depending what you see yourself using the computer for.
Apple Laptops
Macbook
Basic model laptop offered by Apple, and a very well priced computer starting (Classic White) 2.1 GHz for $999, 2.0GHz for $1299, and 2.4GHz for $1599. Also, since the recent update the Macbook is a great computer not to much different from the Macbook Pro, only in specs and screen size. The Macbook screen size is 13.3, which might turn some people off to this laptop.
Why should I buy the Macbook?
- Great for average computer user
- Web Surfing
- Great for a College Student
- Word Processing
- Basic Photo Editing with iPhoto
- Basic Video Editing with iMovie
Macbook Pro
This is a computer designed for you professional market or user. Macbook Pro prices start at 2.4 GHz $1999, 2.53GHz $2400. The Macbook Pro offers a 15.4 inch screen size which is a major plus for screen size, or a person looking for a lot of screen real estate. For more information head over to the Apple website.
Why should I buy the Macbook Pro?
- Has 2 Graphic Cards (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT)
- Can do everything the Macbook can, but better and faster!
- Faster Processor then Macbooks
- Great for Video Editing, Graphic Design, and other high intense computer applications
Macbook Air
A great basic laptop for your business type person, or someone that is on the go all the time and not looking for a lot of power. Comes in two models 1.6 GHz for $1799, and the 1.86 GHz for $2499. As you can see not very much power for your money! I highly would not recommend getting the Macbook Air, I would rather go with a Macbook for the price, more for your money!
I do not see any reasons that you would want to buy this laptop other then the reason’s that I have listed above. I think it is very overpriced for what you get, and to me it feels just like a show off computer like look what I bought, because I can. I sure people will disagree, but if I am going to spend $1799 to $2499 for a computer it better have more power!
Apple Desktops
iMac
Apple offers four different versions of the iMac computer, because it offers two different version for the screen sizes. The iMac screen sizes come in the 20 inch. and 24 inch.
Personally, I think the iMac is a great desktop computer for anyone that is looking to buy a new computer. It is very simple in design, and all the computer parts are built into the monitor, and the only other things that you have is the keyboard and mouse.
When I am going to buy my next computer, I am looking at this being my next one because it has everything you need! Simple and sweet, and a sleek design!
Why should I buy and iMac?
- Sleek and innovative computer, nothing other PC quite like it
- Very well priced!
- Simple Design
- Powerful
Mac Pro
This is Apples top of the line computer priced at $2799, spec at 3.2 GHz. The Mac Pro is used highly in a professional setting such as top film editing studios, recording studios, and 3D modeling. For me, this computer is the dream computer because it is rather pricey, but it is Apples best computer they offer.
- I really do not need to list out the reason’s to buy this computer, if your job is Video Editing, Music Production, 3D modeling, high intensive computer applications, then this is the computer for you!
- The only hidden thing about making this purchase is it does not included a monitor which Apple Cinema displays are very expensive, but if you want a computer that will last you at least 3-5 years, and is upgradeable then the Mac Pro is your choice!
I hope these tips and break down will help you to decide what Apple computer is right for you! Also, I hope you get a feel for what computer that Apple offers is meant to be used for, so you do not go out and buy a computer that your really do not need, or you bought one that is not powerful enough for what you need.

Computers do require regular maintenance and they need to be periodically upgraded and if you fail to keep up with some easy maintenance you will no doubt experience problems. There are a few simple tasks that can be performed to fix computer errors and help prevent them from occurring in the future.
Tips That Will Help You Fix Computer Errors
If your computers registry becomes corrupt or unstable it will dramatically affect your computers performance in a very negative way. You may notice your computer is running extremely slow and your having to wait for programs to open or it takes awhile to switch from web page to web page. If you use your computer for work or school or maybe just to run the family’s budget, learning how to fix computer errors when they occur can be extremely beneficial.
When your computers registry has been corrupted you may have error messages popping up on your screen such as “fatal .exe error” or “.dll file error” and these type of errors can cause your system to shut down or freeze up leaving you with a computer that you cannot use. When these type of errors occur it can be extremely frustrating because you may be in the middle of some important work, so if your learn how to fix computer errors such as these you can avoid serious down time.
One of the first steps you should take in efforts to solve your problem would be to run your disk defragmenter. Running the disk defragmenter may reduce the occurrence of errors by condensing all the files in need of repair.
To fix computer errors that are related to your computers registry, you should complete a registry scan so that all the unused, old and unwanted data can be detected and removed. To clean your computers registry you will need to “BUY” a good registry cleaner program. I want to emphasize on the word “Buy” because there are a lot of free registry cleaners available but it’s a terrible idea to even try a free registry cleaner. Free registry cleaners will not only just not fix computer errors they will cause damage to your system. When it comes to the free registry cleaners the programmers will put in malicious code and adware and spyware programs that will collect and transmit your personal information and in many cases end up leaving your computer so damaged that it cannot be repaired.
Reg Clean is one of the more advanced registry cleaner programs available as it can perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks as well as removing malicious spyware and viruses that have infected your registry. When you run a scan with Reg Clean it can fix computer errors as it cleans up your entire registry and it performs a registry backup while it is defragging your system.
There are a number of viruses out there that can really attack your system causing all sorts of problems. Spyware and virus programs can be the cause of a variety of computer errors. They are capable of overwriting program files or deleting necessary file extensions disabling important programs and limiting the functionality of your system. To fix computer errors that are a result of spyware and some viruses you can use updated antispyware and antivirus protection.
Damaged or corrupt programs or virus infections can cause serious damage to your computers boot section, and this will prevent your system from booting up properly or possibly not at all. When you need to fix computer errors related to your system booting up properly you should use your Windows XP Boot CD as this can repair the Windows XP installation which can overwrite computer errors picked up through spyware or viruses.
If the problems that you are having are directly related to your computers memory you will experience some of the following problems; system crashes, system hang or computer freeze, blue screen, constant restarts and crashing software programs. To fix computer errors related to your systems memory there are specific software programs that can help free up some memory space which will help solve RAM related problems. Improving your systems memory which is also known as RAM (random access memory), will improve your computers performance dramatically so I would highly advice you to do a computer memory test. To complete a memory test there is specific software available for such a task, one program that I am aware of that is very effective is called Memtest86, this can help you zero in on your problem allowing you to fix computer errors brought to your attention through the use of the software.
If you have tried all the advice given in this article and your still experiencing computer problems I would do a search on the Internet for information on how to fix computer errors. You will find many websites that focus on computer basics and troubleshooting. I would be very careful though and really check the websites credentials so you can be sure that your getting advice from a reliable and secure source. There is also a software program available that can help you learn how to fix computer errors, but again I would be very cautious about any program that needs to be down loaded and run on your computer. Remember preventative maintenance can save you from a lot of unnecessary problems and one of the best preventative measures you can take is to purchase a reputable registry cleaner program and use it periodically to clean your registry of old, unused, unwanted and damaging data.
